VERONICA LOOP TRACK - Egmont National Park
The Veronica Loop Track begins at the carpark by the North Egmont Visitors Centre. The walk climbs through alpine rainforest then returns downhill along a ridgeline to the carpark.

We follow the boardwalk which is uphill and to the right of the Visitors Centre.

Ignore the turnoff to the Viewing Platform (or take a short detour, check it out and return to this point) and continue walking straight ahead.

This is the point on the boardwalk where we will emerge from the forest at the end of this walk. Now we stay on the boardwalk and continue walking to the left...

We carry on up past the historic Camphouse, which can provide accommodation for 32 people in 4 rooms. Accommodation can be booked at the North Egmont Visitors Centre.

At this point (next to the Camphouse) we take the right-hand path.

The track is well made and climbs gently...

...and passes the Ambury Monument.

The track climbs steadily.

This small side track leads to a view of the mountain.

Onwards and upwards...

At this point we have the choice of continuing uphill for 10 minutes to a viewpoint. May as well if the weather is good...

And now, after a well-earned break, we head back down.

Now we turn left and continue on the Veronica Loop Track.

The downhill section of the Veronica Loop Track is a lot less civilised than the uphill section.

And then we re-emerge from the forest, back at the boardwalk, and walk back down to the carpark.
