An easy flat walk - 40 minutes one way to Lake Sylvan or 1 hour 20 minutes to Lake Sylvan walking via the old tramway. We suggest walking the shorter way there and back and spending more time at the lake.

At this point the old tramline branches off from the shorter 40 minute track to the lake. We're walking straight to the lake but we will return via the tramline just to have a look.

DOC start their description of this walk with the words, "This well-defined track..." Well, actually, there are places where the track is not so well defined. Sometimes the understorey of forest plants is so sparse - it can be hard to tell what is track and what isn't. So, we have to keep our wits about us.

The track to the old tramline loop continues along to the right of the viewing platform.

And soon we come to a gorgeous little beach with this view. Ideal for a dip.

At this point the track forks. We're taking the old tramline loop. The track here is not particularly well defined.
