The walk to Ackers Point begins here - at the Department of Conservation's Rakiura National Park Visitor Centre in Oban.

We begin by heading down to the Halfmoon Bay waterfront.

We turn right and follow the coastline.

At this point we take the left fork and follow the road downhill to Leask Bay.

This is the start of the Ackers Point Track.

After a few minutes of walking downhill, we come to this point. We turn left and check out Harrold Bay and the stone cottage.

This stone cottage is one of the oldest buildings in New Zealand. It was built by Lewis Acker in 1835.

The Ackers Point lighthouse used to be located on the other side of the mouth of Paterson Inlet at The Neck. It was shifted to Ackers Point in 1927. The current lighthouse (which you see here) was installed in 2006.
